Gus is a 15 year old Standardbred gelding that was rescued from a kill pen here in NC.  He began life racing on small tracks in Indiana before being sold as an Amish work horse.  Gus arrived needing to gain a couple hundred pounds and to have care for his neglected hooves.  He exhibits the sweet, calm disposition that his breed is famous for.

After completing quarantine, Gus buddied up with our geriatric resident on site, 36-year-old Buck.  They can often be found grazing together or grooming one another.  Gus seems to be in good shape and will be available for adoption late fall or early winter.
